https://www.pratiquesdeformation.fr/1112 Ce texte examine le pouvoir d’agir autochtone dans le champ de l’art contemporain au Brésil, en articulant les mobilisations politiques du mouvement indigène à partir des années 1970-1980 avec les pratiques esthétiques actuelles. À partir de la notion de « quatrième moment » qui déplace le récit de la simple survie vers celui d’une vie pleine et active, l’article analyse les « retomadas » comme processus de reconquête non seulement territoriale, mais aussi narrative, épistémologique et cosmopolitique. Les images des protestations autochtones, les gestes performatifs de figures telles qu’Ailton Krenak et les productions d’artistes comme Denilson Baniwa constituent des contre-archives qui déstabilisent l’histoire de l’art brésilien fondée sur l’effacement et l’appropriation de l’altérité. Ces œuvres et actions revendiquent des cosmologies vivantes et la continuité des peuples autochtones dans le présent. L’article propose ainsi une révision critique de l’historiographie de l’art au Brésil et l’affirmation d’une présence autochtone capable de refonder les cadres esthétiques et politiques du contemporain. This text examines Indigenous agency within the field of contemporary art in Brazil, linking the political mobilizations of the Indigenous movement from the 1970s–80s onward with current aesthetic practices. Drawing on the notion of the “fourth moment,” which shifts the narrative from mere survival to that of full and active life, the article analyzes the “retomadas” as processes of reconquest not only of territory, but also of narrative, epistemology, and cosmopolitics. Images of Indigenous protests, the performative gestures of figures such as Ailton Krenak, and the works of artists like Denilson Baniwa constitute counter-archives that unsettle a Brazilian art history built upon the erasure and appropriation of alterity. These works and actions assert living cosmologies and the ongoing presence of Indigenous peoples in the present. The article thus proposes a critical revision of Brazilian art historiography and affirms an Indigenous presence capable of reshaping the aesthetic and political frameworks of the contemporary.
