Face à ce phénomène, l’auteur questionne à travers ses travaux de thèse, l’actualité de l’éducation populaire et les enjeux propres à la doctrine néolibérale : l’injonction à innover, les nouvelles formes d’intervention caractéristiques de l’entreprenariat ou encore l’illusion participative née d’une vision rétrécie de la démocratie. Since the beginning of the 1970s, associations of popular education have been gradually institutionalized and instrumentalized by the public authorities, at the risk of coming across as ‘consenting victims of the State’ (see Geneviève Poujol [ed.], 2000, Éducation populaire: le tournant des années 70, Paris, L’Harmattan, p. 17 [online]).
